Enough "Monkey - ing" around!

〜猿に囲まれて…地獄谷野猿公苑を行く(エイドリアン講師)〜

エイドリアン講師は冬休み、Macaque(ニホンザル)で有名な地獄谷野猿公苑を訪れました。ニホンザルを間近で観察出来るとあって、観光客で賑わっていましたが、ニホンザル鑑賞には、「サルに話しかけない。」など、面白い注意書きもあったそうです。温泉に浸かるニホンザルの姿も、この地ならではの光景ですね。

We are almost a month into the New Year, are you excited to be back? I am!

During my vacation, I stopped by Jigokudani, home of Japan's famous Macaques.

温泉に浸かるニホンザルまで、あと少しです。

There were many rules for visiting the Macaques, but my favorite rule was Rule #4:

観察時の注意点、エイドリアン講師は(4)がお気に入りだそうです。

Do not talk to the Japanese Macaques: The macaques do not understand your language. Your "friendly" approach with words appears to be a hostile gesture.

Hostile?! 

Here are some Macaques "Hot - Tubbing" in their own private Onsen:

ニホンザル達は、人間と話は出来なくとも、同様に温泉が好きなようですね。

<   Macaques may not speak, but they do know a few beauty secrets.



The other Macaques I saw were mellow, and business-like:

中には観光客に慣れたニホンザルも居ましたよ。

After I visiting the Macaques, I stopped at the visitor center and learned about the Japanese Serow:
